- February 18, 1745 – The city of Surakarta, Central Java is founded on the banks of Bengawan Solo River, and becomes the capital of the Kingdom of Surakarta.
- May 11, 1745 – War of Austrian Succession: Battle of Fontenoy – French forces defeat an Anglo-Dutch-Hanoverian army.
- June 16, 1745 – Sir William Pepperell captures the French Fortress of Louisbourg in Louisbourg, Nova Scotia during the War of the Austrian Succession.
- July 9, 1745 – War of the Austrian Succession: French victory in the Battle of Melle allows them to capture Ghent in the days after.

- December 6, 1745 – Charles Edward Stuart’s army begins retreat during the second Jacobite Rising.
