  • February 18, 1745 – The city of Surakarta, Central Java is founded on the banks of Bengawan Solo River, and becomes the capital of the Kingdom of Surakarta.
  • May 11, 1745 – War of Austrian Succession: Battle of Fontenoy – French forces defeat an Anglo-Dutch-Hanoverian army.
  • June 16, 1745 – Sir William Pepperell captures the French Fortress of Louisbourg in Louisbourg, Nova Scotia during the War of the Austrian Succession.
  • July 9, 1745 – War of the Austrian Succession: French victory in the Battle of Melle allows them to capture Ghent in the days after.
  • July 26, 1745 – The first recorded women’s cricket match takes place near Guildford, England.
  • August 19, 1745 – Prince Charles Edward Stuart raises his standard in Glenfinnan – the start of the Second Jacobite Rebellion, known as “the 45”.
  • September 21, 1745 – Battle of Prestonpans: A Hanoverian army under the command of Sir John Cope is defeated, in ten minutes, by the Jacobite forces of Prince Charles Edward Stuart
  • November 8, 1745 – Charles Edward Stuart invades England with an army of ~5000 that would later participate in the Battle of Culloden.
  • December 4, 1745 – Charles Edward Stewart’s army reaches Derby, its furthest point during the second Jacobite Rising.
  • December 6, 1745 – Charles Edward Stuart’s army begins retreat during the second Jacobite Rising.
