  • January 1, 1932 – The United States Post Office Department issues a set of 12 stamps commemorating the 200th anniversary of George Washington’s birth.
  • January 3, 1932 – Martial law is declared in Honduras to stop a revolt by banana workers fired by the United Fruit Company.
  • February 17, 1932 – New Year’s Day in Chinese calendar. Start of the year of the Water Monkey in Chinese astrology.
  • February 29, 1932TIME magazine features eccentric American politician William “Alfalfa” Murray on its cover after Murray stated his intention to run for President of the United States.
  • April 5, 1932 – Alcohol prohibition in Finland ends. Alcohol sales begin in Alko liquor stores.
  • April 24, 1932 – Benny Rothman leads the mass trespass of Kinder Scout, leading to substantial legal reforms in the United Kingdom.
  • May 21, 1932 – Bad weather forces Amelia Earhart to land in a pasture in Derry, Northern Ireland, and she thereby becomes the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean.
  • May 28, 1932 – In the Netherlands, construction of the Afsluitdijk is completed and the Zuiderzee bay is converted to the freshwater IJsselmeer.

  • July 20, 1932 – In Washington, D.C., police fire tear gas on World War I veterans, part of the Bonus Expeditionary Force, who attempt to march to the White House.
  • July 28, 1932 – U.S. President Herbert Hoover orders the United States Army to forcibly evict the “Bonus Army” of World War I veterans gathered in Washington, D.C.
  • August 10, 1932 – A 5.1 kg chondrite-type meteorite breaks into at least seven pieces and lands near the town of Archie in Cass County, Missouri.
