- September 16, 1976 – Shavarsh Karapetyan saves 20 people from the trolleybus that had fallen into Erevan reservoir.
- October 6, 1976 – Cubana Flight 455 crashes into the Atlantic Ocean shortly after taking off from Bridgetown, Barbados after two bombs, placed on board by terrorists with connections to the CIA, exploded. All 73 people on board are killed.
- October 7, 1976 – Hua Guofeng becomes Mao Zedong’s successor as chairman of Communist Party of China.
- December 3, 1976 – An assassination attempt is made on Bob Marley. He is shot twice, but plays a concert two days later.
